WORKING IN THE COMMUNITYGLASGOW PERTHSHIRE Football Club is a social institution in the community of Possilpark. During the course of its 100 odd year history the ‘Shire’ has enjoyed great success and has a proud name known throughout the junior football world. Over the last few years the club has developed its own Youth Development programme where all age groups and genders are encouraged to participate in the club’s youth activities; so in recent times, Glasgow Perthshire has become more than a football club. Keppoch Park is very much the centre of a community club, which now extends beyond football into other sports and activities to offer a wider choice to local people. Through its youth development and other projects, Glasgow Perthshire is playing an important coordinating role in the local community. We recognise that the club is a respected local institution and can act as a focal point for a range of activities. We have been fortunate in winning the support of local people, public agencies and local businesses in our work and with their continued support we hope to extend our role YOUTH DEVELOPMENTFootball Coaching Music Project The project has been a great success over the last three years and has now rolled out to the Parkhouse and Brunswick areas. Workshops Keppoch Campus School is the venue for our activities throughout the year. ‘Shire’ youths have the opportunity to take part in sessions that include workshops to raise awareness and help combat addiction, sectarianism/racism and anti-social behaviors in their community. |
